Would you Make a Great Life Coach?

I’m not sure what led me into wanting to be a life coach. Maybe I saw an ad before understanding how my subconscious mind works. Maybe someone told me that I sound like a life coach or should be one. Whatever the reason, one day, I researched what a life coach was, and I remember thinking, “I can get paid to be me?” I couldn’t believe that what I had been doing for many years was an actual career. No sooner had I become a life coach did people start asking me what I thought of other life coaches. The truth is that I didn’t know of any life coaches (because I didn’t know that career existed) until I was already a coach. The only life coach that I had heard of was Tony Robbins, but I thought he was just a motivational speaker.  And now as a coach, the only show that I watch that even has a life coach character in it is The Flash.

Life coaching is a fast-growing occupation and for one reason or another, many of us feel like we’d make a great life coach.  So, what makes one sure that coaching is right for them? You see, you want to evaluate these questions first before spending $10,000 + to become a certified life coach and finding out during a coaching exercise that you actually aren’t ready or would be better suited as a therapist , teacher, or somewhere else where you can share your knowledge. There were over 30 of us in the classroom of the coaching institute where I certified. Coaches from all around the world came. What makes one decide that they even want to be a coach?

There are many reasons to become a coach. On The Flash, the character Ralph, aka Elongated Man, eventually becomes a life coach after hitting what he feels is rock bottom. He went from being a person who took advantage of others to a person who takes advantage of himself and seizes his own opportunities. Quite a few coaches are like Ralph because they emerged from a low point of their life as a new person with a more evolved state of consciousness. They may want to assist others with this process or want to share what they know. Other coaches are more like me: lows were definitely overcome through divine intervention and the awareness of this is what led to many wins thereafter. These types of coaches have been unknowingly coaching themselves throughout life. They too, desire to share their wisdom with others.

So, which one is the better coach? The better coach is the one that you are. As long as you can coach from the unique perspective of your truth from your state of consciousness, you will continue to improve your life and successfully assist others on their journey to more happiness and abundance.  But, if you have a hard time speaking and being your truth in front of others, then you may need to hire a coach before committing to being one. Great coaches continue to work on themselves and incorporate the new insight and knowledge that is gained. Great coaches know when to seek assistance and are acquiring new knowledge habitually. Coaching is a lifestyle, so great coaches are always coaching. No, you can’t separate the friend from the coach or the spouse from the coach.  So, if it feels right for you to embark on this journey, go for it and remember that “Once a coach, always a coach.”  May you take the proper steps inward towards being a great one.

How are you controlling your energy?

Do you work with your energy? Are you intentionally discovering ways to intertwine with your qi? Yeah? Then keep reading. Those who have stopped reading are either at a balanced level with their energy or are unaware of it completely. Those of you who are still reading this are evolving to handle more energy flow or to communicate with it. If you work with your energy, you are indeed doing spiritual work. You are connecting with the force that powers your body and creates your world and beyond. The benefits of paying attention to how you use your energy are plentiful. Here are 3 things to pay attention to while working with your energy.

Where is energy being wasted? Remember that energy cannot be created nor destroyed, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be wasted. Energy is constantly being transformed between potential energy and kinetic energy. Potential energy is the amount of energy stored (like a yo yo before it is released). Kinetic energy is energy in motion (like a moving roller coaster). Hyper-ness is just an energy surge or too much energy that you fail to direct. Laziness is too much thinking about the energy needed to do other things and being held down by it. In either scenario, energy is wasted because of the failure to think then do and the failure of doing without intention. Even things like waking up in the middle of the night and just lying in bed waiting on sleep or scrolling on the smart phones, watching TV, cleaning, reading, and playing video games are all examples of times where energy could be wasted. Creating a habit of setting intentions and moving in faith is one way to use your energy efficiently.

When do you misdirect energy? It is normal for us to misdirect energy when strong feelings cause us to get emotional. For example, when returning home from a stressful day at work a person may take their stress out on their family by not wanting to “be bothered”. It is normal to misdirect energy by overeating for comfort when the world is asking you to show up more and make drastic changes. And even in the case of being in a toxic relationship, it is normal for emotions of love, lust and hate to cause people to give more energy to the people, moods, and events that they don’t desire. Energy flows where attention goes… and that thing grows! All of these behaviors are normal, but remember that you are not “normal.” Focusing on your own behavior and feelings can give you insight to how and where you are directing your energy.

When is your energy manipulated? You manipulate your own energy with everything that you do. Manipulation is the intentional or unintentional act to control, influence or play upon. Meditation manipulates energy, so does caffeine, church, alcohol, too much or too little sleep, the prayer line, relationships, the news, music, social media, books, your mindset, the foods you eat and things you watch on the television. Envy and gossip are just a few ways that others can manipulate your energy as well as someone calling you to vent , complain, or seek your assistance emotionally, physically or financially; all of these are energy manipulators. Even a conversation about a loved one’s success can manipulate your energy. Energy just is… there’s no good or bad energy, nor any light or heavy energy. There’s just levels of awareness of the energy that you experience. Being mindful of the way energy expresses itself through your body by focusing on the breath and how your body communicates with you will help you detect when someone or something has made an influence on your energy.

Mastering energy is an art, it takes patience so keep practicing … may you experience a beautiful life blooming with abundance.
